Chris Rea

MBA (Warwick) · CFA · Business English Coach

Most Business English coaches teach grammar. Chris teaches the language of business — because he has spent his career living it.

With a background spanning M&A advisory at Deloitte, co-founding and selling a software company, and serving as an independent expert witness on business valuation in US Federal Court, Chris brings genuine business credibility to every session.

His students are finance analysts, investment managers, consultants, lawyers, academics, students, and tech professionals — from Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Europe, and beyond — who need to communicate complex ideas in English with clarity, precision, and confidence.

A Career in Business, Finance & Teaching

M&A Advisory — Deloitte & Touche

Worked on mergers and acquisitions transactions, giving Chris firsthand experience of the high-stakes boardroom communication his students need to master.

Entrepreneur — Co-Founded & Sold a Software Company

Built a software business from scratch and saw it through to a successful exit — understanding the full language of entrepreneurship, negotiation, and investment.

Expert Witness — US Federal Court

Served as an independent expert witness on business valuation in US Federal Court proceedings — requiring precise, credible communication under the highest pressure.

Business English Coach — Worldwide

Over five years teaching professionals across Asia, Europe, and beyond, Chris developed a structured coaching methodology that combines real conversation with data-driven feedback.

The Reason Behind the Work

I spent years working alongside highly intelligent professionals — analysts, lawyers, consultants — whose ideas were excellent but whose English held them back in international settings. They knew what they wanted to say. They just couldn’t say it with the confidence and precision the situation demanded.

That gap is fixable. And fixing it — watching someone go from hesitant to confident in a client meeting, or from overlooked to promoted — is genuinely satisfying work.

What I offer isn’t generic English lessons. It’s a structured, personalised system built around your specific role, your specific goals, and your specific errors. Because your time is valuable, and generic doesn’t cut it.

Lake Atitlán, Guatemala

Chris is based on the shores of Lake Atitlán in the Guatemalan highlands — one of the most beautiful places on earth, and conveniently located in Central Time (UTC-6). This gives students in Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, Japan, and Korea a good range of early morning and evening slots, while European students benefit from afternoon availability.
